Cabo San Lucas Wedding Photography

Chas Studios is a destination wedding photography and videography team working across Los Cabos, including Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, and the surrounding Baja coastline. Led by husband-and-wife Diego and Taylor, our team approaches weddings with a calm, organized presence, combining documentary coverage with subtle creative direction. Having worked in coastal environments with strong sun, wind, and open landscapes, we understand how to adapt quickly to Cabo’s conditions while keeping the focus on the experience of the day.

Our style is natural, refined, and candid, with an emphasis on capturing moments as they happen. We move through the wedding day in a documentary way, observing interactions and anticipating moments, while offering light guidance when it helps. This direction is minimal and intentional, allowing couples to feel at ease and fully present. The result is a mix of real, unposed moments and clean, relaxed portraits that reflect both the couple and the setting.

Cabo’s light and landscape play a big role in how we photograph. From bright beachfront ceremonies to desert tones and open ocean views, we adjust our approach to work with the environment rather than against it. As the day transitions into evening, we incorporate flash photography to capture the energy of the reception, adding contrast and a more editorial feel to the dance floor and celebration.

We also offer wedding videography for couples who want to capture the movement and atmosphere of the day. Our films follow the same documentary approach, focusing on real moments, natural pacing, and the overall feel of the wedding. You can explore more on our wedding videography page.

FAQ

We’re based between Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico depending on the season and bookings.

Our photographic style can be described as soft, organic, and classic, using lots of natural light and minimal editing to maintain the natural beauty of your photographs.

We incorporate elements of both photojournalism and traditional photography. This approach captures the wedding day as it unfolds naturally while ensuring we take essential portraits of the most important people on your big day.

Yes, all of the photographers on our team use the same equipment and have the same style. Diego personally edits all the photos, ensuring a cohesive look. If you browse our portfolio or Instagram, you’ll see a blend of work from all our photographers.

We primarily focus on candid photography throughout the day. However, we make time for portraits during key moments, especially with close family and friends.

Yes, we offer gentle guidance to ensure you feel comfortable while capturing a variety of poses. Our goal is for you to look natural and relaxed in every shot.

The pre-wedding meeting is an important moment for us to connect with you as a couple, understand your needs and wants, and discuss important details of your wedding day.

All photos will be delivered 4 weeks after the wedding.

Photos are delivered through an online gallery where you and your guests can view and download them. Your guests can even upload their own photos to the gallery if you wish. It’s very easy!

We take an unlimited amount of photos and deliver the number of photos agreed upon in the package. There is always a minimum of 60 selected and edited photographs per hour of service.

On the wedding day, we arrive as hair and makeup are wrapping up and begin with detail shots, getting-ready moments, and venue photos. We then capture the first look and group photos with friends and family. During the ceremony, we work quietly and unobtrusively, documenting key moments such as the walk down the aisle, vows, first kiss, and exit.

After the ceremony, we move into the couple’s photoshoot, using what we call “guided candid shots” – natural-looking poses with gentle direction, from movement shots (walking, running, lifting her for a kiss) to calmer editorial moments (a hug, a kiss, resting her head on his shoulder).

During the reception, we cover everything from the first dance to the cake cutting, along with candid guest moments. Whether we work solo or with a second photographer, we make sure every important moment is captured.

Yes, we include an engagement photoshoot in packages of more than six hours. It’s a great chance for us to get to know each other so everything feels natural on the wedding day. The session lasts one hour, and you’ll receive 60 edited high-resolution photos.

The number of hours you’ll need depends on the size and complexity of your event. Most weddings require between six and eight hours of coverage, which usually includes getting ready shots, ceremony, and reception. For more extensive celebrations or multiple locations, consider booking additional hours. For smaller, more intimate weddings, you may only need 3 hours of photographic coverage.

For photography, we use the Canon R6 and R6 Mark II and Alien Bee lighting equipment. Lenses: 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 50mm 1.4, and 100mm macro 1.4. For video, we use the Sony FX3, DJI Mini 4 Pro drone, Ronin RSC2 stabilizer, DJI microphones, and ZOOM H6 audio recorder.

Yes, all of our cameras have dual card slots, meaning every photo is backed up in real-time to prevent data loss.

We opt for light editing that enhances the natural beauty of the photos. Edits may include removing background objects, sharpening focus, adjusting framing, fine-tuning colors, balancing contrast, and perfecting light and shadow.

Extra charges are always discussed upfront and stated in your contract. Possible extra charges include extra photo edits in Photoshop, videography and drone, and additional hours.

Yes! Our in-house cinematographer creates both highlight and documentary-style films, including aerial drone footage. We also offer 60-second social media reels through our wedding content creation packages.

We hold onto the deposit as a cancellation fee. However, you can use the deposit toward a future photoshoot without an expiration date.

We accept bookings up to one year in advance, so we recommend securing our photography services as soon as you’ve set your wedding date.
