Chas Studios is a destination wedding photography and videography team working across the Algarve, including Lagos, Albufeira, Vilamoura, and the surrounding coastal and countryside venues. Led by husband-and-wife Diego and Taylor, our team brings a calm, thoughtful approach to documenting weddings, combining documentary storytelling with light creative direction. With experience photographing in Portugal, we’re familiar with the Algarve’s varied landscapes, from cliffside views to historic estates, and how to work with its changing light throughout the day.
Our style is natural, refined, and candid, centered on capturing moments as they unfold. We photograph weddings in a documentary way, staying present and observant, while stepping in with gentle direction when needed. This allows couples to feel comfortable and fully engaged in their day, without feeling staged or interrupted. The result is a balanced collection of candid moments and relaxed, well-composed portraits that feel true to the setting.
The Algarve offers a wide range of environments, from soft coastal light along the cliffs to more intimate garden and villa settings. We adapt our approach to each location, using natural light as a foundation and adjusting as the day progresses. In the evening, we incorporate flash photography to capture the energy of the celebration, adding depth and a more editorial feel to the reception and dance floor.

We’re primarily focused on capturing candid, unscripted moments — laughter during dinner, reactions during speeches, and spontaneous dancing. That said, we do guide you through portraits when needed, especially with close family.

We schedule a call before your Algarve wedding to talk through your timeline, venue logistics, and what matters most to you. It’s also a chance to connect before the big day and make sure we’re aligned.
All images are delivered via an online gallery within 4 weeks of your wedding. You can view, download, and share the gallery with your guests — and optionally allow them to upload their own images as well.
We shoot continuously throughout the day and deliver a curated collection based on your package. As a rule of thumb, expect a minimum of 60 professionally edited images per hour of coverage.
We arrive early to capture venue details and getting-ready moments, then document the ceremony with a discreet, non-intrusive presence. Afterward, we guide you through relaxed portraits before transitioning into full reception coverage — from toasts and dinner to dancing and spontaneous moments between guests.
Yes — any Algarve wedding package with more than six hours of coverage includes a one-hour engagement session with 60 edited images. It’s a great way to connect and feel comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding.
Most Algarve weddings need 6–8 hours of coverage to include getting ready, ceremony, and the full reception. Smaller elopements may only need 3 hours, while multi-location events may require additional time.
For photography, we use the Canon R6 and R6 Mark II and Alien Bee lighting equipment. Lenses: 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 50mm 1.4, and 100mm macro 1.4. For video, we use the Sony FX3, DJI Mini 4 Pro drone, Ronin RSC2 stabilizer, DJI microphones, and ZOOM H6 audio recorder.
All cameras record to dual SD cards simultaneously, so every photo is backed up in real time. We also back up all files immediately after the shoot for additional security.
We focus on light-touch editing that enhances the natural setting and emotional tone of your Algarve wedding — adjusting color, contrast, light, and composition, with optional object removal or detailed touch-ups upon request.
Any potential extra costs — such as extended hours, drone footage, or retouching — are clearly outlined in your contract from the start. No surprises.
Yes. We offer highlight films, full-length documentary edits, and social media-ready reels — all with optional drone coverage, depending on venue permissions and weather conditions.
If you cancel, your deposit is held as a cancellation fee. However, you can apply it to any future session with no expiration date.
We take bookings up to 12 months in advance and recommend securing your date early — especially for summer weddings in the Algarve, which fill up fast.
