Lisbon Wedding Photographer - Documentary, Candid & Editorial
Chas Studios is a Lisbon-based wedding photography and videography team specializing in destination weddings in Lisbon, Cascais, Sintra, Estoril, and throughout Portugal. Led by husband-and-wife Diego and Taylor, we document weddings with a calm, experienced approach that blends documentary storytelling with refined creative direction. As a Lisbon wedding photography team, we understand the city’s light, architecture, and pacing, allowing couples to stay present while we focus on capturing the full atmosphere of the day.
Our style is natural, editorial, and candid. We photograph weddings in a documentary way, anticipating real moments as they unfold, while offering subtle direction when needed. This guidance is intentional and minimal, just enough to help you feel comfortable and look like yourselves, never staged or overly posed. The result is a balanced mix of spontaneous emotion and relaxed, well-composed portraits that feel effortless.
We also incorporate flash photography when it enhances the moment, especially during evening receptions and dance floors. In historic Lisbon venues where lighting can be dim or atmospheric, flash allows us to create energy and depth without losing the mood. The result is a mix of timeless natural light photography during the day and dynamic, editorial-inspired images at night.
In addition to Lisbon wedding photography, we offer wedding videography for couples who want their celebration captured in motion. Our films follow the same documentary-led approach, focusing on real interactions, atmosphere, and movement rather than staged scenes. From intimate elopements in Sintra to multi-day destination weddings in Lisbon and Cascais, we create wedding films that feel honest and immersive.
A Lisbon Venue We Know Well
Palácio de Queluz, about 20 minutes west of central Lisbon, is a venue we return to regularly. The formal gardens give couples a range of natural settings within a short walk of each other – geometric hedgerows and long axes for composed portraits, the azulejo-lined canal wall for something more intimate and graphic. The northwest-facing façade catches late afternoon light in a way that’s hard to replicate anywhere else in the greater Lisbon area. If you’re getting married at Queluz, we know the space well and can help you build a portrait timeline that takes full advantage of it. We also photograph weddings at venues throughout central Lisbon – including Estufa Fria in Parque Eduardo VII, and private estates and quintas in the wider metropolitan area. If you have a venue in mind that isn’t listed here, get in touch and we can talk through what’s possible.

Lisbon Wedding Photography FAQ
We’re based in Lisbon and Cascais.
Palácio de Queluz is the Lisbon-area venue we know best. We’ve worked there across multiple seasons and understand how the light, the gardens, and the palace administration’s access rules affect the day – which helps us plan your timeline properly and make the most of every space. Beyond Queluz, we photograph weddings at venues throughout central Lisbon and the surrounding metropolitan area, including Estufa Fria and private quintas. If you’re deciding between venues or want to know what a specific location looks like to photograph, we’re happy to talk it through.
Yes! We frequently travel throughout Portugal and across Europe for destination weddings.
Our style blends soft, natural light with warm, timeless tones. We take a documentary approach throughout the day, capturing candid moments as they unfold, while offering gentle direction when it’s needed — especially during portraits and family sessions.
Yes — all team members use the same cameras and lenses, and everything is edited by Diego to ensure a cohesive, consistent look. If you scroll through our portfolio or Instagram, you’re seeing work from across the team — seamlessly blended.
Our focus is on candids — genuine moments, laughter, and emotion. That said, we always carve out time for natural-looking portraits with the people who matter most.
Absolutely. We offer light guidance to help you feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera, without forcing anything overly posed or stiff.
It’s a chance for us to connect with you before the wedding — to talk through your schedule, venue logistics, and what’s most important to you. It also gives you space to ask questions and feel fully supported.
Your full gallery will be delivered within one month after the wedding.
We send you a private online gallery where you and your guests can view and download everything easily. If you’d like, your guests can also upload their own images to the same gallery.
We photograph continuously throughout the day and deliver a curated collection based on your package. You can expect a minimum of 60 edited images per hour of coverage.
We arrive early to photograph your getting-ready moments and venue details. During the ceremony, we work quietly and respectfully to document each moment from the walk down the aisle to the vows and the first kiss. After the ceremony, we provide gentle direction during your couples photoshoot to create images that feel natural and candid, with a mix of intimate moments and shots with movement. From there, we move into the cocktail hour, reception, and party, capturing everything from the first dance to late-night fireworks.
Yes. If your wedding package includes more than six hours of coverage, you’ll receive a complimentary one-hour engagement shoot in or around Lisbon — with 60 edited photos delivered via gallery.
Most Lisbon weddings need 8-10 hours to capture the full story, from getting ready to dancing. Elopements or intimate weddings may only need 3-6 hours. If your wedding includes multiple venues or longer celebrations, we can customize accordingly.
For photography, we use the Canon R6 and R6 Mark II and Alien Bee lighting equipment. Lenses: 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 50mm 1.4, and 100mm macro 1.4. For video, we use the Sony FX3, DJI Mini 4 Pro drone, DJI RS4 Pro stabilizer, DJI microphones, and ZOOM H6 audio recorder.
All of our cameras record to dual SD cards in real-time, and we create multiple backups of your images right after the wedding to ensure nothing is lost.
We keep our editing light and natural. We adjust color, tone, and composition to enhance the photo’s mood while keeping skin tones natural and the atmosphere true to how it felt.
We’re always transparent about pricing. Any potential add-ons — such as drone coverage, Photoshop retouching, or extra hours — will be discussed in advance and detailed in your contract.
Yes — our in-house filmmaker creates cinematic highlight films, full-length edits, and optional 60-second reels for social media. We also offer drone footage, weather and venue permitting.
The deposit is non-refundable, but you’re welcome to use it toward a future shoot with no expiration date.
We recommend booking once you’ve confirmed your wedding date — especially for high season in Portugal (May through October), which tends to book quickly.
