Destination weddings are some of the most meaningful events we’ll ever photograph — and over the past seven years, we’ve had the privilege of doing it across two continents.
At Chas Studios, we photograph and film destination weddings in Lisbon, Cascais, Sintra, and the Algarve in Portugal, and in Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos in Mexico. Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement at a cliffside estate in Sintra, a black-tie celebration at Pestana Palace, a barefoot ceremony on a beach in Sayulita, or a multi-day celebration at a resort in the Riviera Nayarit — we’ve shot there, or somewhere very much like it.
Our approach doesn’t change with the location. We work with calm direction and stay out of the way when it matters most, blending documentary-style coverage with gently guided portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The result is a collection of photos and films that actually look and feel like your wedding — not a version of it.

For destination weddings in Portugal or Mexico, we recommend booking your photographer 12-18 months in advance. Peak wedding season in Lisbon and Cascais runs from May through September, and popular venues like Pestana Palace and Estufa Fria book up well ahead of that window. Puerto Vallarta’s peak season runs November through April. If your date falls during peak season, 18 months is a safe buffer. That said, we do occasionally have last-minute availability — it’s always worth reaching out even if your date is closer.
Our destination wedding packages include full-day photography coverage, a second photographer for weddings over six hours, a private online gallery with high-resolution downloads, and print-ready files. Packages of more than six hours also include licensed aerial drone footage. We offer add-ons including wedding film, same-day social edits, and extended coverage for multi-day events. All packages are customized — we don’t offer fixed pricing on the website because destination weddings vary significantly in scope, location, and logistics.
Destination wedding photography in Portugal typically ranges from €2,000 to €5,000+ depending on the hours of coverage, whether video is included, and travel logistics. At Chas Studios, our packages are custom-quoted based on your specific event. Photography-only packages start lower than combined photo and film packages. For context, photography is typically 8-12% of the overall wedding budget in Portugal, where a 50-guest wedding averages between $25,000 and $51,000 USD.
\Wedding photography in Puerto Vallarta generally ranges from $2,500 to $6,000+ USD depending on coverage hours, the number of photographers, and whether videography is included. At Chas Studios, packages are custom-quoted per event. Most couples book 8-10 hours of coverage to cover getting ready through the first dance. Drone footage is included in packages over six hours. We recommend requesting a quote at least 12 months before your date, as peak season (November through April) fills quickly.
Yes. Chas Studios provides both wedding photography and film as a combined service or separately. Our video team uses the Sony FX3 Cinema camera, Ronin RS4 Pro stabilizer, and DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. We produce full wedding films, short-form highlight reels, and same-day social edits optimized for Instagram and TikTok. Having a single team handle both photo and video means better coordination on the day and a more consistent visual style across all your deliverables.
Our photography style is soft, organic, and editorial — built on natural light, minimal post-processing, and a documentary approach that captures events as they unfold. We blend photojournalism with gently guided portraiture, stepping in to direct only when it adds to the shot, and staying out of the way when the moment speaks for itself. The result is a gallery that feels warm and timeless rather than heavily stylized or overly posed. We avoid heavy filters, dramatic edits, or trends that date quickly.
Yes. Chas Studios is based between Lisbon, Portugal and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with dedicated teams operating in both regions year-round. In Portugal, we cover weddings in Lisbon, Cascais, Sintra, the Algarve, and the surrounding areas. In Mexico, we cover Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Sayulita, and the Riviera Nayarit. We also travel internationally for weddings outside our primary markets — past events have taken us to France, Spain, and beyond.
You can expect to receive approximately 60 edited images per hour of coverage. For a 9-hour wedding, that’s roughly 540 photos. All images are delivered in high resolution for print and lower resolution optimized for web and social media. Every photo is individually edited — we don’t batch-process or apply blanket presets. Images are delivered through a private online gallery within 3-4 weeks of your wedding date, with expedited delivery available if you need photos sooner.
Photos are delivered within 3-4 weeks of your wedding date. If you need images sooner — for a press release, anniversary, or social post — we offer expedited delivery within 24-72 hours for an additional fee. Wedding films have a longer turnaround of 6-8 weeks depending on length and complexity. All files are delivered through a private online gallery and are available for download in both high and low resolution.
Yes. Licensed aerial drone coverage is included in all wedding and event packages of six hours or more. We use the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Drone availability is subject to local regulations — some venues and locations in Lisbon and Puerto Vallarta have restricted airspace, which we confirm in advance. Where drone flights aren’t permitted at the venue, we identify nearby locations to capture aerial footage of the surrounding landscape and setting.
Yes — we share full wedding galleries during the inquiry process, not just curated highlight images. We think it’s important that you see how an entire event is covered, not just the best 20 shots. We’ll share galleries from weddings shot at similar venues or in your location if available. You can also read over 200 verified five-star reviews from couples across Portugal and Mexico on our Google profile.
Our team is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Diego is originally from Argentina and speaks Spanish and conversational Portuguese. Taylor is Canadian and speaks English and Spanish. This is particularly useful for weddings with multilingual guest lists, bilingual ceremonies, or events where vendor coordination requires switching between languages on the day.
